Marilyn,
If I remember correctly you have found War of 1812 information for Hiram
Callison. Right? I have Civil War information for J.B. (James Brown)
Callison, Hiram's son. J.B. was my great grandfather.

For Ohio, I think that we have Moses War of 1812 pension record. I got a lot
of service records from the National Archives but the only one of interest
-- so far-- was the John who died. I also have service record for William
Overpeck who was a son in law of John Callison. Dottie, I am sure that you
have
Moses record and that you have sent it before but I lost so much stuff when
my
computer died
Here is what his petition to receive bounty land looked like.
State of Ohio, County of Clark
On this nineteenth day of November one thousand eight hundred and fifty,
personally appeared before me, James M. HUNTY, Mayor of the City of
Springfield,
county and state of Foresaid, William OVERPECK, aged fifty-seven years, a
resident of the county of Clark in the state of Ohio, who being duly sworn
according to law, declares that he is the identical man who was a soldier in
the
company commanded by Captain Jeremiah SIMS, which was raised in Champaign
County in the State of Foresaid, and mustered into service under the order of
the general government into war with Great Britain, declared by the United
States on the eighteenth day of June, eighteen twelve. That Captain SIMS'
company was one of the companies that were called out into service in said
war, to
guard the frontier and blockhouse on the border of the Indian territory in
the state of Foresaid: that he was with said company drafted on our about
the
twenty-fifth day of February, eighteen-thirteen for the term of one month and
continued in actual service in said war for the term of one month, and was
honorable discharged at the place of service about twenty miles north of
Urbana in Champaign County in the state of Ohio, on or about the twenty-fifth
day
of March, 1813, as will appear by the muster role of said company. He makes
this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the bounty land to which he was
entitled under the "act granting bounty land to certain officers and
soldiers who have been engaged in the military service of the United States"
passed
September twenty-eight, 1850.
And this one was for Thomas Elliott another son in law of John Callison
War of 1812 Bounty Land Warrant
May 5, 1855- affadavit
Thomas Elliott age 68, was called into service Champaign Co. Ohio about Feb.
1, 1813 for space of time of one month. The company was stationed at
Manary's Block house (My note: looks like Manary's but not sure) for one
month. The
whole company was mustered out about March 1, 1813.
He states that he has received a Bounty Land Warrant of forty acres under
the act of September 30, 1850, which he has since legally disposed of to one
Abram Neff, and cannot now return.
We make declaration for purpose of obtaining the addtional bounty land to
which he is entitled under the Act of March 3, 1855. He appoints E.G. Dial of
Springfield as his attorney. George Michael and Charles Callison verify his
signature.
Remember the members of this company were John Callison and his sons, Arthur
and John Jr along with sons in law, Thomas Elliott, William Overpack and
William Buckley. William Overpack and Thomas Elliott were the only ones who
lived past 1855 so not sure why some of those who lived 1850-1855 did not
claim
bounty land -- Maybe they did and I just don't have the records. That would be
Arthur Callison and William Buckley.
So what records are out there that we have not gotten-- looks like bounty
land was legislated in Sept. 30, 1850. We'll move on to Kentucky next. Can
ANYONE add anything to the people living in Ohio regarding the War of 1812.
So far, most of us are probably eligible -- with a little work and
research-- to join the following

I'm sure there is a similar one for the sons <smile>
Take care all, Marilyn
