I have not yet found any Callison's with the designation of black for the
race but here is an example of how this would occur in the 1800s. I am sure that
all of you are aware that the slaves may have taken the owner's surname at
some point. With my mom's family being from Louisiana, I have records of my
ancestors owning and buying and selling slaves also. Deep in my heart I hate
the idea but try to help myself with the idea that I am sure they were good to
them. How could they not have been.
