Absalom was born in

I have a birthdate about 1776 for Absolom based on him being titheable in
1797.
Hmmmmmm born in Virginia and shows up in Greenbrier about the first year he
is of age and the only one with an extra titheable in 1796 was William who
cannot be his father.
Hmmmmm maybe Hiram, Benjamin, Susannah, Nancy/Agnes and Absolom all had the
same father and Absolom just left for Greenbrier when he was of age. We know
that Hiram was definitely connected with James of Augusta but was not named
in his will. The only way we knew that he was connected was via his marriage
license (in the care of Robert Callison) and now a perfect DNA match with some
of the lines
Actually the Benjamin, brother of Absolom and the Benjamin, who was in
Augusta Co apparently with Hiram COULD BE one and the same. The one in Augusta was
born about 1790 and shows up for ONLY ONE YEAR in 1811 in Augusta. The one
killed in 1813 was born about the same time period.
I don't suppose that Hiram, Robert and Benjamin were all in the same company
in the War of 1812 -- nope -- that would be way too big a clue for anyone to
have left for us.
Hiram as comparison with Absolom
1. Both have a Benjamin connected to them in some manner
2. Both used the name John for the first son
3. Both used Gillespie for one of their sons
4. Both went to Kentucky BUT they were not the only ones who went to Kentucky
5. Both used the name Susan as daughters. Remember it is thought that
Absolom may be connected to Susannah Callison who married into the same family line
as his wife. Did both Absolom and Hiram name a daughter after a sister, Susan
The only other line to use the name Susan was Joseph whose wife was named
Susannah
Hiram used the obligatory trilogy for his sons -- John, William and James as
did most of the family.
Really would have been nice if Hiram had named a son Absolom and vice versa
but no such luck.
So -- coincidence or not--- DNA line from Hiram is an exact match with DNA
line from John Sr.
John Sr. is known to have left one of his children (Isabel) in Augusta when
he went to Greenbrier and Robert was charged with her care in the will of his
father, James. (? so cared for because she was legitimate)
In James (Isabel) will, Robert and James Jr. were left the family land and
William and John were left 5 shillings. I don't know the value of 5 shillings
at that time but seems small compared with land -- always thought it was
because John and William were no longer in Augusta Co. but maybe there were other
considerations.
Somethings we will never know. We do know that Hiram shares DNA results with
James of Augusta.
And now it looks possible to think of Benjamin in Augusta and Benjamin,
brother of Absolom, as one and the same.
Just thinking outloud. Take care. Marilyn
