Thanks, John. If I can interpret my notes correctly, William bought this land
in 1783. I wonder if it is the same area that was surveyed in 1774 Botetourt
Co and later in Greenbrier Co. Did William own any other land in Greenbrier.
If not, I wonder who he lived with in the area after selling this land.Any
ideas what happened to the land from 1774. William is still listed on tax records
1787 and 1796 so must still have owned some land or else was living with
someone who owned land. I THINK that everyone over 21 was listed on the tax
records. Anyone know the answer to that or is that a subject for research. <smile>
If he still owned land WHEN was it sold.
As far as I can tell John Sr only had that 1774 land but both of Williams
transactions mentioned adjacent to John. John was in Greenbrier tax record until
1803 and in 1804 in Bath Co. He had no land purchase in Bath but listed yearly
on the same date as John Jr so probably living with him.
I don't know if this means that John was ordered to sell 200 acres or what it
means. William Renic was a witness to the sale that William Callison sold in
1786
(GENERAL INDEX TO DEEDS - GREENBRIER COUNTY, VA September 17,1786 George
Kincaid 200 acres by order, from John Collison adjacent to William Renick)
So the same questions remain as for William -- did John own any other land.
Guess the best thing on this one is to try to find the actual deed and find out
what was involved. I don't guess anyone lives in Greenbrier area?????
So thanks again John. Lots more questions Take care all
