Marilyn,
I have been looking through some of my Callison info. I have a lot of it that was sent to
me years ago by Evelyn Witeck and Thelma Piper. I am not sure what I have or don't
have.
One letter that I have from Thelma mentions John Gillespie Callison who was in Lafayette
Co., Mo. She had his will, and said he had a son David Nelson who also had a son named
John Gillespie Callison. The first John was the son of Hiram Callison of Pa. David N. also
had a daughter named Malinda Jane.
This is all of the Gillespie names that I have except for my three John Gillespie
Callisons who were sons and grandson of James and Ann Gillespie Callison.

not been able to as of yet.
Joyce, I am just trying to place the people who married into the Callison
line to see if they migrated places together.
As far as Absolom in Virginia, I don't guess we are lucky enough to have any
bios in county histories and no child lived long enough to make the 1880
census showing birthplace of parents. UGH
So the only connection that I can come up to put him in the middle of the
these other Callisons is HIS NAME.
Alexander
Moses
Elizabeth Morrison
Nancy Newenham
William who married Marian Chapman
all named sons Absolom and John Jr. had a grandson
Absolom
Elizabeth Morrison
both used Gillespie as a middle name
Alexander
used by Elizabeth
used in Absolom's line
Moses
grandchild of John Jr
I am sure that there are more duplications in these names for the children
and grandchildren of Absolom, Alex, John, Nancy, Elizabeth etc etc etc but these
are just off the top of my head. Please add to the list as needed.
I think we can "assume" that Isabel, the daughter of John Sr. was raised in
Augusta Co by James and Isabel and after the death of James -- by Isabel and
their son, Robert. -- as per the will of James. We also know that Hiram was
probably raised by them and by Robert also after the death of James-- as per his
marriage record.
So it is POSSIBLE that James and Isabella were raising one of more of the
younger children of John Sr in addition to Isabell, probably sons since they were
not mentioned as needing their marriages provided for -- as did Isabel. (???
Benjamin who showed up on tax record the same day as Robert, and Hiram) The
wife of John Sr may have died in Augusta and John Sr moved to Greenbrier with
his older children (speculation) James, John, Alexander and Elizabeth and
others.
OK so I am off on another tangent. Enough for one day. I realize that these
things will never be proved but at least can keep an open mind to
possibilities. Who knows maybe one day a will will be discovered for John and William.
Take care all
Marilyn
