I am trying to refresh my memory on William Callison and Marian Chapman.
William Callison married Polly Cooper June 1, 1831. This would be the son of
William Callison and Marian Chapman.
We don't know the parents of William but know that he and Marian married 1804
Greenbrier, Va. and that he was next found by Joseph Callison, son of
William, in Kentucky. I only know of two children of theirs, William and Absolum. We
don't know where William, son of James and Isabella was in 1804 but in 1806
he was in Gallia Co., Ohio when his son, Joseph was in Kentucky. The last
record we have for William in Greenbrier was 1786. John, son of James and Isabella
was in Greenbrier in 1803 and in Bath Co in 1804.
W. Callison was delinquent with school tax in 1869
Who is the William listed in the 1830 census for Adair Co., Ky with two males
under age 5 and 1 male age 20-30 and one female under age 5, one female age
20-30 and one age 30-40. Guess this one is the son of Joseph
1840 census Moreau Twp., Morgan County, Ohio shows
Absolum and William Callison living next door to each other.William had one
male under 5 and one age 20-30, 1 female under 5, 1 female age 20-30 and one
female age 60-70 ( Is this Marian Chapman Callison) Absolum had one male age
20-30, 1 female under five and one female age 20-30
1850 has William born Kentucky 1813 and Eliza born Virginia with his children
Thomas, Elizabeth and John born in Missouri. Elizabeth was born after 1840 so
I guess the young female listed with him in 1840 was deceased. Absolum is
listed as KELLISON born 1818 Kentucky. He had moved to Buffalo Twp. and added 5
children since the 1840 census. William was a farmer and Absolum was a miller.
1860 census show William listed as KALLISON born TN with $7000/$5000 in
assets.
I can't find Absolom listed anywhere.
1870 shows William born KY listed as KELLISON, Versailles Twp. Still no
Absolum and no other Callisons in Morgan County. If Absolom died, his widow and six
children must have moved elsewhere???
William and Eliza and their children and grandchildren are the only Callisons
in Morgan Co in 1880
I see that a William bought 160 acres In Moreau Twp. Morgan Co., Mo in 1856.
I also find J.W. Callison in the 1880 directory for Excelsior born Morgan
Co., Mo. I would GUESS that this is the grandson of William and Marian Chapman
Callison
So does anyone have any other info on William and Marian Chapman Callison
that might fill in some blanks??? Take care all
Marilyn
