Marilyn,
I have no idea where the name Henry came from. I have known for years that that was his
middle name but just never thought much about it. I wonder if it a Callison name? Do you
know what the original James Callison was named? I know that Samuel was named Samuel C.,
and I have often wondered if that was Samuel Crockett, as he named his oldest son James
Crockett Callison. He was known as Crock Callison, according to my 90 year old mother who
can still tell you a lot about them.
These Callisons are really a mystery. It is maddening to "know" that Samuel was
the son of James and Anne Callison and not be able to prove it. There was a George
Callison (Kellison, same as Samuel) in the 1850 census of Houston Co., Texas. One cousin
thought he was the younger brother of Samuel but, as I pointed out to her, he would have
been born after Anne Gillespie died. I have wondered if he might have been the son of John
Gillespie Calli son, Samuel's brother. I have no idea if John had any children but he
could have had a child by Margaret ReneauReenae could have been married before. The reason
that we associate him with John Gillespie is because this George died in Arkansas, and his
widow, with a little girl named Calli son, I think she was seven years old, is later
living with John Gillespie in KarneKane's Texas. She married a man from Wilson Co.
This same man used to take care of Samuel CalliCalli son'sdren on occasion. I
can't remember his name but it was William !
(Billy)
??? They all called him uncle Billy. Strange, huh.
My cousin has decided the first thing she is going to do when she gets to Heaven is ask
Samuel Calli son just who his father was. I told her that after the records and the
problems they left for us, I am not sure they will be there!

Calli son, James Henry
Interesting. I wonder where the name HENRY came from. My Calli son line used
this name also but it was not until 1858 time period. Henry Clay served in
National Politics off and on between 1806 - 1852. Since my first Henry Calli son
was known as Henry CLAY Calli son, I always thought that is where the name came
from. Take care
Marilyn
