Milburn, I THINK that the BEARD surname for Agnes came from the fact that
William lived by a Beard (??? Joseph) who had a daughter named Agnes/Nancy. Where
did you learn the middle name for Robert. I did not know his middle name. The
fact of a son of William named John came from family member of Joseph who had
his "Uncle John Callsion's Rifle from the War of 1812" Which leads to the
next question -- Is John, son of William, the same John who married Elizabeth
Cutlip. He is ASSUMED to be the same John found in Gallia Co., Ohio in 1806 the
same time as William. As far as I know, we only have 3 John's documented in
1806 -- John in Gallia and John Sr. and John Jr in Bath Co., Va. Many researchers
attribute Nancy Callison Newenham as the daughter of the unknown John
Callison and Elizabeth Cutlip BUT if that is the case, and IF John was the son of
William, you would think that the rifle would stay in the Newenham family as a
child of John rather then stay with a nephew. Assuming that John who married
Cutlip is the same John as son of William. Again, I know of only 3 John's in the
early time period. Enough rambling. Take care
