Just something to keep in mind. Again recording my thoughts to paper to keep
them straight. TAke care. Marilyn
Assuming that John Callison is the son of William and Nancy/Agnes
Callison.
John born about 1771 married Elizabeth Cutlip 1791 Greenbrier Co., VA
John got bounty for wolf scalp 1806 Gallia Co., OH
John served in War of 1812 with his brother Robert Gallia Co. OH
John killed 1813 during the war
Elizabeth's father died in PeePee Twp., 1812
I have 3 children (in addition to ? Nancy) who quite possibly might be
children of John and Elizabeth
I have Margaret COLLISON (as the Callisons were known in Ohio) married
Thomas DOWNING married in Pike Co OH 1819
Pike Co marriages
Collison, Anstep Monrow, John Jan 11, 1827
Collison, Margaret Downing, Joseph Oct 16, 1823
Collison, Polly Humphreys, James Jun 19, 1834
Collison, Ruth Peters, William Oct 24, 1837
Collison, Samuel Downing, Elizabeth Feb 23, 1831
Collison, William Moore, Elizabeth Dec 27, 1833
Anstep, Polly, Ruth and William were the children of Alexander, son of
either John or William
1820 Pike co., OH --
Thomas Downing age 18-26 male -- females -- two age 16-26 (Elizabeth and
Margaret?) and one over age 45 (?Elizabeth Cultip Callison)
Note: The Downing researchers cannot account for this older female.
Elizabeth Cutlip born about 1770 so would be age 50 at this time
1830 Pike Co., OH Thomas Downing
The older female is now missing-- it shows
males 20-30 and 30-40 (Is Samuel born 1801 now living with them)
females age under 5, age 5-10 and age 30-40 (Should be Elizabeth which fits
for marriage in 1791 of Elizabeth Cutlip and John Callison) -- IF age 16 to
26 in 1820 should be age 26-36 in 1830 so the combined age would be age 30-36
or a birth year of 1794-1800
Thomas is in PeePee Twp. and Joseph is in Waverly Twp.
Joseph Downing had 5 males age 20-30 and female age 15-20 and female age
20-30 IF age 16-26 in 1820 should be age 26-36 in 1830 so the possible age would
be age 26-30 for a birth year of 1800 - 1804
Possible tree for Elizabeth Callison would be -- John died 1813
Elizabeth 1794-1800
Margaret 1800-1804
Samuel 1802 -- born Virginia
Remember that it is possible that William was still in Greenbrier through
1804 so presumably, John would be there also and then went to Ohio at the same
time so these children should have been born in VA
Looks like Thomas went to Logan Co., IL by 1850 and that his children ages
have a break between age 13 and 7. His wife is 37 years old. I need to see
where he is in 1840 -- his children ages suggest OHIO but not in Pike Co. Maybe
Elizabeth died 1837 time period.
Looks like Joseph Downing born 1801 is still in Pike Co but with a younger
wife. Children have split in birth years between age 12 and age 5 so maybe
Margaret died about 1838. Older children are Perry, Isaac, Elisha, and Emily
It would be interesting to see the 1880 census for the older Downing
children to see where they have the place of birth of their mothers
1850 Samuel CALLISON, Koscuisko Co., IN age 48, VA
Elizabeth, age 44, OH
Thomas 18, OH, Eliza Jane 17, Vianna 15 , John 13, Rebecca 10, Isaac 8,
William 8, George 6, Joseph and Mary twins age 4 all born Ohio except the last 2
in Indiana
Note; This Samuel is the only Callison head of household that we cannot
account for in 1850.
1860 for Samuel has all the children born Indiana -- the 4 older ones
are
not listed with Samuel and Elizabeth -- Still listed as CALLISON
1880 for 27 year old Joseph Callison, Kosciusko Co., IN had parents born
Virginia. He was unmarried and a farm laborer.
Take care. Marilyn
