I was looking back over the info and I bet that he is the same James who came to Texas
with Samuel. If you will note, the Alex who was born in Fayette Co. went to Colorado
Co.Fayette County was made from Bastrop and Colorado Counties.
As I said, John G. Callison got the land from James Henry Callison in Tyler Co., Texas.
Why would she go there after George W. died, and why was she living with the other John G.
Callison in Karnes Co. in 1860?
Remember that Texas had a lot of land. He would have received 4000 acres for coming to
Texas very early, and then he received more for having died in the War for Independence. I
forgot how much exactly he would have received, but I think several of those for James H.
Callison might have been the same piece of land listed in different transactions. Remember
that I said the land was not settled until the 1880s. The daughters were all dead by
then.
Some of that land for John G. Callison was for John G., the son of Samuel, as payment for
having fought in the Civil War, and he was severely wounded. I have a picture of him and
part of his has been cut off. He was listed as severely wounded and received extra land
for that.
Well, I would like to think we are getting somewhere, but where I am not sure???

While we are talking about early Callisons lets not forget James Callison who
married Jane Sargeant 1841 Colorado Co. Texas. I wonder if he is the same
James that Joyce mentioned but I have been unable to find him after his marriage.
Ancestry.com 1814 -1860 Texas marriages also mentions a Sarah Callison
married N. Dickey Tyler Co., Tx 1854
Does anyone know who these people are or have any other info on them?
I know that there was an Alexander Callison who went to Texas but he was not
the son of James. He was in Absolom and Ann Flack Callison line.
Wow, look at how much land the heirs of James H. Callison had patents for The
first number is the certificate number and the last number is the number of
acres. You can sure tell that Texas had alot of land available. Some of these
have the adjoining counties. The first name is the grantee and the second name
is the patentee Does anyone have these land records or access to them. I know
that Joyce has done lots of land work but I did not know that there was this m
uch land involved.
