Sara Parkhill Craig was born around 1801-1803. She was about 15-16 years old when she
married a Craig. Possibly David Craig of Rhea County, Tennessee. David Craig is listed
with David Parkhill in Rhea County records. She was about 17 years old when she married
James Callison. There was a Eliza or Emma Elizabeth Callison believe that married David
Lemley. This was a sister to Emily (Emela) Callison/Coleson.

and now
with new info from Mary about the ship. I know Jim has done alot of research
on the Callison/Craig/Parkhill problem. Maybe y"all could join forces and send
your suppositions and known family relationships to me or to Mark Freeman to
put on the Callison master web page. We could put them all under James Jr with
a note about why we think some of them go there. It has been so long since I
did any work on this line and I don't have all of my notes handy for them. IF I
remember correctly.
We know that James Jr. married Anne Gillespie in Knox Co. Tn in 1794 and that
James and Robert Callison married in Rhea Co. Tn in 1816 and 1818. A court
case in Tn. of some type (fill me in here if you can) named a son, John also.
Also I think there is some document to show that Ann died in Tn before James Jr
and I am not sure of any records that we have of him.
We KNOW that Robert ended up in Lauderdale Co. Alabama where his wife's
family was living and that Marshall Co. Alabama was taken out of Lauderdale --
where the Parkhill children were listed as Parkhill heirs.
I suspect that the Margaret and Eloner Callison who married Morrison boys in
Lauderdale Co in 1824 and 1825 were daughters of James Jr and Ann Gillespie
Callison also so it is possible/probable that James Jr. and Ann had at least
James, John, Robert, Eloner and Margaret as children. I don't think there are any
unknown William's floating around who were born late 1700's or early 1800's
but if James and Ann had had another son, I suspect that they would have named
him William since the other names were all names of his siblings.
Interestingly, they did not appear to name a son, Thomas, for Ann's father.
So would all of you researching this connection, please create a family tree
of some sort, if interested, and we can put it online to make all of this a
little clearer.
I think there are some researchers of a Richard Callison, a George W.
Callison and a Lewis Callison but not sure if they are on this group. I think Richard
and George went to Missouri and Lewis went to Arkansas. I also think that
these three (and possibly others that don't immediately come to mind) are
descendants of Robert Callison and Sidney Pharis/Faries.
John Callison/Collison married Margaret Reneau in 1826 Blount Co. Alabama
John G. Callison got land in Blount Co. Alabama in 1837 and 1843. What
happened to this land?
Robert Callison got land in Lauderdale Co. Alabama in 1833 and 1835. What
happened to this land
What happened to Peter Morrison and Elander Callison Morrison after their
marriage and to Benjamin Morrison and Margaret Callison Morrison after theirs.
Who is Martha Callison married to David Lemle 1846 in Marshall Co. Alabama
--???? a James and Sarah Craig Callison descendant.
Who is Mariah Callison who married Arthur Staton 1846 in Lauderdale Co.
Alabama -- what happened to them. Sometimes by following a female line, you can
make a probable connection with another family if they migrated elsewhere
John G. Callison is listed in the 1830 census for Blount Co. Al. Margaret and
Elander Callison were married in Lauderdale Co pre 1830 but John is the only
Callison listed in 1830. Where was Robert?
In the 1830 census, Blount Co., Al, John was listed 5 houses away from
Larkin BOX -- any relationship to the Box who married into the Callison family?
John had 1 male age 0-5, 1 male age 5-10, 1 male age 10-15, 1 male age 15-20
and one male age 30-40 (born 1790-1800), 1 female age 10-15 and 1 female age
40-50.
I assume that the children over age 5 were Margarets from her earlier
marriage but who is the male under age 5??. Did John adopt any of these children and
their names became Callison. Could he have been married previously and some
of these were his children. Seems like I remember that most of them were
Margaret's but not sure about this.
In the 1840 census page 19 Lauderdale Co. Alabama was
W.R. Callison (William Robert???) with 2 males under age 5, 1 male age 20-30
(born 1810-1820) Note: Robert and Sidney were married in 1816 or 1818 so he
fits age as a possible son. There was also a female under age 5 and one age
30-40. Who is this wife and when did they marry?
Also in 1840 census page 22 Lauderdale Co. Alabama was
Robert Callison with 2 males under 5, 1 age 5-10, 1 age 10-15, 1 age 15-20
and 1 age 40-50 (born 1790-1800) , 1 females under age 5, 2 age 5-10, 2 age
10-15 and one age 40-50. This family group looks a little strange to me with 3
children under the age of 5 and the mother age 40-50. All I can say is better her
than me. I guess one of these females could be the Mariah who married in the
1840s. So who were these other children? This is known to be Robert who
married Sidney Pharies in Tn because he they are named in the will of Richard Faries
in Lauderdale Co. Al in 1850 something. However, this is the only census
found for Robert. I SUSPECT that three of the sons are George W, Richard and Lewis.
According to the 1850 census Henderson Co. Tn, Lewis was born 1826 Alabama,
W, R, Callison was in Hardin Co. TN and born about 1818. It was not known
where he was born. His children ages 2-13 and his wife was 8 years older so
appears to be the same W. R. who was in Alabama in 1840.
Peter and Benjamin Morrison have not been found after their marriages.
According to the 1860 census Madison Co., Missouri, Richard Callison was born
about 1840 in Alabama. Note: the father of Sidney Phares Callison was named
Richard.
Also in Madison Co., Mo, there was a George W. Callison, born about 1834
Alabama with his first son named Robert. Lewis in now in Arkansas.
So I am going out on a limb and saying that at least for one branch of the
tree, we have
James Callison Jr. and Anne Gillespie
Children: James, Robert, John, Margaret, Elander/Eleanor
Children of James -- someone can add these for me
Children of Robert: W. R., Lewis, George W., Richard, Mariah. According to
the 1840 census, he had 5 sons in addition to W. R. so just two to go.
Just some odds and ends here to try to connect the dots. Take care all
Marilyn
