Years ago a paid researcher found the following information about the wedding of Anthony
and Abigail
Anthony Callison was born Abt. 1709 in prob. Co. Armagh, Ireland, and died Aft. 1778 in
Mullalelish, Kilmore Par., Co. Armagh, N. Ireland. He married Abigail Wethereld 30 Apr
1734 in Ballyhagen, Co. Armagh, Ireland, daughter of Richard Wethereld and Ruth
[Unknown]."Among the persons attending the wedding who signed as witnesses were two
Callinson's, Luke and William and three Wetheralds- Sarah,William and Joseph. They
were probably her brother, William and his wife Sarah, and her brother Joseph. Abigail and
Anthony were affiliated with the Society of Friends (Quakers), and both died at Killmore
parish. This Collison family lived in the Counties of Mulladry and Armagh. Their only son
James came to America.
Anthony was probably born about 1710 or so and James probably about 1720 so they could
have been cousins or siblings or even uncle and nephew -- the biggest clue from the
wedding info -- who were William and Luke?
James of 1740 did NOT use the name Anthony for his children but he did use WILLIAM. No
Lukes that I know of in either family. James of 1760 did not use the name William
I don't remember if it was determined that this female was connected to Anthony and
Abigail or not but definitely in the right time period

100 years later there are still births and deaths recorded in Armagh for the Callison
surname-- they all look to be one family -- headed by a Thomas Callison-- and all female
births, other than a James and possibly an Isaac (no father listed in database). They were
in the Market Hill district of County Armagh.
I do note on
ancestry.com that most of the Armagh names are CALLISON and most of the
Dublin names are COLLISON. I noted in my earlier email about migrations to different areas
used different spellings.
I also found this one in the same area as Mary (above) but 80 years later -- at least
shows that some of that surname were still in the area.
