Jim, did you do the test of famiy tree DNA and if so, what was your kit number -- I
don't need your password -- only your kit number. If you did do it through them -- and
through the CULLISON group, you can go to
familytreedna.com, then choose CULLISON on the
top right and go to y-dna results. If you did not go through that group but you did use
family tree-- just put in your kit number and password at the log in at the top right.
Take care, Marilyn

I did the DNA swab test about 5yrs ago and never heard anything back. I have
found new information since then. Erville T Callison from Jasper County Iowa was
my great grandfather.

Subject: [CALLISON] DNA and thoughts
As many of you know, the Calison lines from both the younger and older James
Callison of early Virginia history have now had a DNA match with a gentleman
whose family stayed in Ireland until the mid 1840's when they migrated to
British Columbia, Canada. The earliest record that he has for his family is
early 1800s. Will we ever find the missing 75 years or so for his family? it
will be hard. Evelyn Witect noted years ago that James Callison who died in
Grainger Co., TN was the ONLY son of Anthony and Abigail Callison but I don't
know how that information was discovered. If correct, then it is possible that
the new DNA line was descended from a brother of the older James who married
Isabella. He has been tested to 37 markers and is a perfect match with a line
from John Callison, son of James and Isabella. The family name is COLLISON and
the earliest record is in Dublin but the family was always told they were FROM
County Armagh which fits for the lines of early VA. We can'!
t deny the DNA connection just don't know how to connect the two families.
REmember -- there was a Luke and a William Callison at the marriage of Anthony
and Abigail so there are a couple of viable options.
How were Anthony and James (Isabella) connected? No clue but court papers and
DNA confirms they were related-- My guess -- brothers-- along with a sister,
Margaret (who married McCutcheon and was in Augusta Co. also) and possibly an
Isaac thrown into the match somewhere (whose daughter, MARGARET) married a
Shumate and descendants intermarried with James (Isabella) family.
Or James and Anthony could have been cousins and their fathers were brothers. In
looking at Irish records in the 1800s -- the families in Armagh seem to follow
the Callison spelling and the ones in Dublin go with the Collison -- about like
our group who left VA as Callisons and arrived in Ohio as Collisons <smile>
Of the two James in Virginia -- they both used James and John for sons but the
younger one used Issac and Anthony for his older sons (Not used by the older
James) and the older James used William and Robert (not used by the younger
one-- not sure about the William this early in the AM but I know he had no
Robert) So these differences could be related to maternal names (except for the
Anthony of course)
Just thinking out loud. Take care, Marilyn
