NEWARK, OH: Virginia "Ginny" Patterson passed away on September 3, 2011 at the
age of 78.
She was born on August 13, 1933 in Springdale, West Virginia (Ohio County) and was the
daughter of the late Andrew and Mary (Anderson) Callison.
She was raised there where she met the love of her life, her husband, Spencer Patterson.
A retiree from Rockwell, his work brought the family to Newark, Ohio, where they resided
and raised their family. Virginia retired from Dayton Precision.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Heath, Ohio, Red Hatters of Licking
County, and Chatterbox Club. She loved baking, canning, gardening, walking and had a
wonderful smile that could light up a room.
She is survived by children, Darrell (Jill) Patterson of Westerville, Ohio and Brenda
(Greg) Unternaher of Newark, Ohio; grandchildren Bryan (Emily) Patterson of Gahanna, Ohio,
Emily and Duncan Unternaher of Newark; sisters and brother, Bernice Carter of Alderson,
West Virginia, Arlene (William) Hines of Thornville, Ohio, Vivian (Wilbur) Gwinn of
Newark, Ohio, and John (Alice) Callison of Hebron, Ohio; sisters-in-law, Mary Callison of
Maryland, Phyllis Callison of Pickerington, Ohio and Ruby Patterson of Heath, Ohio; many
nieces and nephews; life-long friends and extended family at SharonBrooke.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Spencer; brothers,
William Callison and Oscar Callison; and brothers-in-law, Harry Carter and Harold
Patterson.
A memorial service will be held at 6 pm on Wednesday, September 7 at Brucker & Kishler
Funeral Home, 985 North 21st Street, Newark, Ohio.
