Hey Joyce, Anything is possible. It took me years to connect the dots for
William from VA to OH to KY but thankfully -- there was a court record in Gallia
Co that said he had gone to KY. IF you can find a county in TN for the land
-- I'll see what if I can find anything. Thanks for the reminder. Take care.

I may be black balled from the list but am going to share my gut theory
about John and Elizabeth Cutlip Callison.
They married in 1791 and not yet found after that date.
However there is a John Callison in 1806 Gallia Co, OH at the same time as
William Callison, son of James and Isabel
There is a John Callison who died in 1813 in the War of 1812 in Gallia Co.,
Ohio
Joseph Callison, son of William, was in possession of a rifle from the War
of 1812 from his "Uncle John"
Margaret COLLISON married Joseph Downing 1819 in Pike Co., OH where the
family of Elizabeth Cutlip Callison was living. This couple had an older female
with them in 1820 of the right approximate age for Elizabeth Cutlip Callison
and who the Downing family cannot connect. She is not listed in 1830
Samuel COLLISON (remember the Callison family in Ohio went by Collison)
married Elizabeth Downing in 1831 Pike Co., OH and appear to be the same family
found in Kosciusko Co, In in 1850.
I contend that after John Callison died in 1813, his widow moved to Pike
Co., Oh where her family lived--- with at least two children -- Margaret and
Samuel. That she lived with Margaret after she married Joseph Downing and died
before 1830. Margaret Callison Downing died before the 1850 census but Samuel
says that he was born 1802 in Virginia. Possibly William (the elder) and John
were in some other county paying taxes that I have not yet discovered.
So if any of you want to play devils advocate and punch holes in my theory
-- fire away.
Take care, Marilyn

Marilyn,
remember that I found a record for a William Callison that received land in Tn. along about that time. I can't remember the details. Could that have been him? The records for early Tn. are very sketchy, as you know.

Hi all, It is 5 AM and I am making my list and checking it twice. No, not
for Santa but for my annual research trip to Salt Lake City. Actually leaving
right after the New Year -- Jan. 6 -13. I plan on one day of Danish research --
that is about all I can take with the old Danish handwriting that I have to
work so hard to try to pick out familiar words and then the fancy handwriting
on faded pages.
I would like to find the marriage date for Nancy Callison in early Kentucky.
I think that is our earliest KY reference. Does anyone have that date
already?
Has anyone done and court records for Lincoln Co., KY. They are tedious. I
have finished the land and the property tax records but did not know if anyone
had already been through the court records-- another tedious job.
Chalkey's book pretty much covered all the court proceedings for Augusta Co.
Va -- THANK YOU MR. CHALKEY. I also have Greenbrier Co., VA court orders but
I don't see any for Bath Co.
I would love to find just ONE reference to William, brother of John, in the
years that he is missing 1796-1806. He did not pay any property tax in
Lincoln Co., KY or Greenbrier/Bath Co., VA in those years so WHERE WAS HE? Gallia
Co., OH tax list starts in 1800 but he does not show up there until 1806
along with a John, James, Robert and Nancy Callison.
I have ordered a 37 marker DNA test for a male line from Alexander. The
gentleman should have gotten it a couple of weeks ago but FTDNA has not had it
returned yet. Keep your fingers crossed.
If anyone has any ideas where to look for William -- or if anyone has done
and court proceeding for the early family -- please let me know so I can tackle
another job while in SLC.
Take care all. Marilyn

Sherry,
Your cousin Teresa here. Merry Christmas.
I recently started working on Ancestry.com as well and saw your post. I have made it back to Zachariah W. Callison (born Sept 18, 1880) but cant find a record substantiating his father as George W. Did you find anything?

Anyone have a Robert G. Callison, born Texas, son of Thomas born Missouri in
their file. His passport application with picture is on ancestry. I found one
of my Clark Co people getting a passport in 1905 but no clue where or why he
went to Europe for a few months. <sigh> NEAT. Take care. Marilyn

My first friend I made when we moved to MS 37 years ago and I have been like
sisters since that time. Our children grew up together. She now lives in
Orlando. Three years ago, her middle child died at the age of 33 from a very
rare form of cancer. She was pregnant with twins and lost the twins about 2
months before she died. Her name was Kristan. Kristan's sister was pregnant with
a little girl at the time of her death. This baby was named Kristan. My friend
just called to let me know that 3 year old Kristan was in Arnold Palmer
Children's Hospital in critical condition from kidney failure from an ecoli
infection. My friend Jan -- has not fully recovered emotionally from losing her
daughter so she, her family and little Kristan need as many prayers sent to
heaven that we can send. The little one is Kristan Reynolds but God will know
who the prayers are for if you forget her name. Thanks a bunch. Marilyn
