I have Absolem Callison being born 1819 in Pike Co.,OH and dying 22 Mar
1869 in Bunker Hill,Macoupin Co.,IL. I have him marrying Priscilla
Selina Simmons in 1842 in AR. They had 7 children on my records.

Marshfield,Webster,MO and William -b. 8 Dec 1856 - Marshfield,Webster,MO.
It looks like Absolem left Illinois sometime after 1840 and went to
Arkansas and sometime after 1860 he returned to Illinois. Don't know if
this helps any but here it is for what it is worth.

Hi Marilyn:
Are you asking about land records in IL,MO or where. If youare asking
about Missouri, Moses had land in Dallas Co., and also Webster Co. Also
Lieut Abraham Bonnett is my gggrandfather BIL to Moses Callison as
Catherine Bonnett is my gggrandfathers sister. Also the James Ruckman
married to Elizabeth Bonnett who is my great-great aunt. Jacob Pyre
married to Mary Anne Bonnett my great-great aunt .She is a sister to
Abraham and Catherine Bonnett and Elizabeth Bonnett. All four are the
children of Henry Bonnett and Elizabeth Van Meter. I also have Catherine
Bonnett being born 25 Jul 1791 in Lewis Co.,WVA. The Bonnett's are one
of my main lines of descent.

Ginger has come through again with some old old emails from our earlier
research.
Remember I had documentation for all of James land except for the land that
he left Isabel and James and Robert were to sell it after her death. Actually
he left 1/3 to James Jr. 1/3 to Robert and 1/3 to Isabel. I guess the final
sale might be after Dorothy died and then he moved to Kentucky. I wonder WHERE
Dorothy was in the 1810 census IF she did not die until 1814. I'll have to check
Robert's census in 1810 to see if she might be listed there.
2nd I bequeath to my loving wife Isabella -----one third of my land during
her natural life
3rd I bequeath to my son Robert Callison one third of my land during the life
of my wife Isabella and life of my daughter Dorothy and at the decease of my
wife and daughter Dorothy that he my son Robert shall have and enjoy the full
half of my land to himself his heirs and assigns forever.
UGG -- I see that sometime in the past I deleted the 4th bequeath to James
Jr. for his 1/3
Can someone PLEASE send that information to me.
Here are the last deeds in Augusta for James Callison line
"Augusta Co, VA grantors index to deeds
Robert Callison to James Mitchell Book 33 pg 532 3-23-1807 Lease

Robert Callison to Walter Herron Bk 39 pg 337 9-26-1814
James Callison estate to Walter Herron Reference same as above.
Really need to look at the actual deeds to see if there is any genealogical
information in them. I thought possibly that Isabel died pre May 1809 since
Robert and James were selling the land.

I am not sure how this squares with his actual family but his wife obviously
was away from home at the tme. If I had 12 kids under age 18, I'ld be away
from home also <smile>
Take care. Someone please send me the missing parts of James will. Take care.

Thanks Terry, our Callison master page has quite a bit on Moses even though
it needs refining by this time.
Moses is thought to be the son of William Sr. based on family history. He and
Alexander (and his family) were closely connected in OH and IL
He served in the War of 1812

WHO IS JOHN KELLESON???????
DOWNING family married into the CALLISON/COLLISON/KELLISON family 3 times in
Pike Co. OH
Moses went to Vermilion Co., IL before 1830 and to Dallas Co. MO between 1840
and 1850.
Can someone who has his War of 1812 Service record input the highlights for
us, PLEASE.
That along with the census records pretty much gives you what we know about
Moses. Still have not found the land sale (or maybe it is just a tax record)
for Moses and Alexander but know it is around somewhere. TAke care all. Marilyn
I need some help with figuring out census records for 1820, 1830 and 1840
census results for Moses and can you document his children with their ages for
those census records. Either he has some unknown children OR it looks possible
that one of Alexander's sons was living with him in 1830. I can't square the
1840 census with the children that we have listed on our master Callison page.
HELP
1820 census Pike Co., OH
Moses males 2-1-0-0-1-0 Females 2-1-1
Alexander males -0-2-0-0-0-1 females 4-1-0-1
Alexander is missing a son who would be in age 10-16 age group and the
earliest son we have for Moses would be age 7 and then one age 3. For females,
Alexander seems to be match what we know in 1820 but I only know of a 4 year old
and 1 year old female in Moses line. Moses was married 1808 so theoretically
could have had a child previous to son born 1813.
Alexander and his wife died before 1830 census so kids must be farmed out.
Moses enumeration in 1830 is
2-2-2-1-0-0-1 and females 1-1-1-0-0-1
2 under 5-- Caleb 2, Ezekial 0
2 age 5-10 -- James 7 (missing male age 5-10 (born 1820-1825)
2 age 10-15 Hiram 10 and Absolom 11
1 age 15-20 William 17
Females
1 under age 5 -- Matilda 5
1 age 5-10 - Sarah 10
1 age 10-15 - Polly 14
Absolom, son of Alexander was in Illinois at this time but no listing in
census records. He would be 25 years old and single.
Our master page has Elizabeth Juvenall as a daughter of Moses but she
actually fits into the family as a daughter of Alexander. I am not fixing anything
into granite but I think we should at least make reference to this fact (and
Alexander family claims her also) on the master page. I could never work her into
census records but that is neither proof nor disproving the issue. We know
from her marriage record that she had a brother Absolom.
Isn't it interesting that Alexander named his first two sons, Absolom and
William and that Moses did the same names in reverse. -- or at least as far as we
know. We do know Alexanders from guardianship papers but Moses is not as
proven. Also William and Marian Chapman Callison named the two sons that we know
about William and Absolom.
In 1840 Vermilion Co., IL
Moses has 0-1-2-2-0-0-0-1 females -0-1-0-1-1-0-1
William and Hiram both age 20-30 have their own listing
Note for 1850 census speculation. William had one male 5-10, female under 5,
female 20-30
Missing ABSOLOM, son of Moses -- should be age 21
male age 5-10 John 8
2 males age 10-15 Caleb 12 . Ezekial 10
2 males age 15-20 -- James 17 (plus a missing male)-- Possibly Absolom age is
off a little and he fits into this slot. In which case, I guess the extra
male from 1830 is now deceased and we'll never know who he was.
Females
1 age 5-10 Nancy age 5
1 age 15-20 Matilda age 15
1 age 20-30 Sarah age 20
Polly married 1836
1850 census --- for Moses
William must be deceased BUT I feel VERY Strongly that the Elizabeth COLLISON
living by James in Dallas Co. MO page 62 is the widow of William. She is age
35 born Ohio, her oldest son (Colberd) is age 15, born Illinois and her oldest
daughter (Catherine) is age 10. born Illinois. They people match the 1840
census Vermilion Co., IL across the board. David 9 IL, Matilda 6 MO, Loretta 5
MO, Mary 3 MO, Rebecca 1, MO. When did Moses leave IL for MO -- between
1841-1844?? At the end of the actual census records there is a mortality schedule
listing William Callison in the year 1850. Family history says that this family
had James Callison as the father but I just don't see that. In 1880 census
Izard Co., ARK, David says that his parents were both born in OH where we know
William, son of Moses was born.!!! His wife and children were all born in TN so
he obviously went to TN from MO in 1850
Actually I read the following record myself -- this was from ancestry -- and
I interpreted it as Callison age 28 ( I think) which is still the wrong age
but one just never knows about the accuracy of those census takers-- could have
been 38 just as easily. These records were at the end of the census and
included those who died June 1849- June 1850 (Again, I think this is right). There
were NO Cullisons in MO in 1850. I have already noted all the CALLISONS in
Dallas Co and all attributed to Moses -- except children Elizabeth 12 TN, John 9,
TN, Jesse 6 MO Jasper 3 MO living in Reuben Richardson household from TN. Not
sure how these children fit into the family except possibly a Richardson
female married a Callison male and they were in TN
Name: William Cullison
Age: 23
Gender: M
Marital Status: Married
Birth Place: Ohio
Death Date: Aug
Mortality Records of 1850 and Mortality Records of 1860
Dallas County, Missouri District 26
In 1860 C.B. (Colbert) is living in the home of his future in laws in Webster
Co., MO William and Julia Caple. Moses is living in the same Twp.
Also in Webster Co, MO are Hiram and Absolom Callison, sons of Moses, and
their families -- in the same Twp
Also James and Elen Callison -- Now this James (34) was living by Elizabeth
Callison along with Colbert in 1850 where he had KY as place of birth and now
he says he was born in Indiana -- we have him as a son of Moses.
There are 4 CALLISON families in Ark in 1880,
This David -- son of ? William, son of Moses Father and Mother born OH. They
were in Izard Co. AR and came from TN. This county is near the MO border
C.B (Colbert B.) (brother to David) son of ? William, son of Moses Father
born IN mother born OH. They were in Fulton Co which borders Izard Co., AR and on
the MO border
Peyton, son of Robert, son of William Sr. son of James and Isabel father born
VA, Mother KY. They were in Washington Co. AR -- near the MO and OK border.
This family went to Chariton Co. MO after KY
Louis ? son of Robert, son of James Jr, son of James and Isabel Father born
VA mother born SC. They were in Saline Co., AR right in the middle of the
state.
I need some discussion with some Moses descendants because I. really think
this line (Elizabeth in 1850) needs to be addressed on our master site -- even
with a note that it is different from family history.
Can anyone connect these dots. Take care. Marilyn
Does anyone understand what all of this assignee notes mean? If John owned

I have wondered where the children of Alexander were after Rebecca's death
and his death before April 1823.
Ginger thought possibly that some were with Reuben Slavens since he was
appointed their guardian. Looks possible that William and Ruth were with him in
1830
Nov 7, 1829 Pike Co Oh. Names Absalom, Autrees (which u found in checking
Gallia Co. books that it was actually Anstis)
now wife of John Monroe. William, Mary, Nancy, Elizabeth & Ruth all minors
under 21 years.
Armstrong is apparently deceased between when Guardianship papers were filed
in 1823 and final settlement of Alexander's will.
By 1830 Absolom had gone to Vermilion Co apparently with Elizabeth. Anstis is
married which leaves William, Mary/Polly, Nancy and Ruth. According to
guardianship papers William was born about 1810 and Ruth about 1820
Ginger, did it give the ages for the other girls in the guardianship papers.
I can't find my copy --AS USUAL and can find Nothing on Nancy after these
papers
So back to Reuben Slavens, it LOOKS like he could have William and Ruth
living with him in 1830. So where were Mary and Nancy in 1830 -- Mary married in
1834 and nothing known on Nancy
1830 census Reuben Slavens, Beaver, Pike Co., OH, 1 male age 15-20 and one
male age 60-70, 1 female age 10-15 and one age 50-60
Since Terry was working on Alexander -- let's see how many lines had
Alexander in the first 3 generations
I know Elizabeth Callison Morrison, Moses and Absolom lines. Also James with
the brother Samuel who both went to Texas. Not too many lines used that name.
If you know of more -- just send them on.
Is there any connection to these lines THAT WE KNOW OF. We know that Moses
and Alexander lines were closely connected in Ohio and Illinois. So far
TENTATIVELY, it is looking like James and Samuel MAY fit into William and Marian
Chapman family-- Pat, did William and Marian Callison have an Alexander in his
family?? Also Rena, did Susannah Callison Flack have an Alexander by any chance??
O yes, Samuel Kellison, son of Daniel, who went to Pike Co also used that
name but maybe because his sister married Alexander Callison
Isabel Callison McNutt family used the name alot but I think it was a McNutt
name.
Going to take the grandkids to lunch. It was lunch or the pool and just too
hot to go to the pool. Maybe this evening--- Take care all. Marilyn

Well, Terry, the only places that I found him is one tax record in Bath Co,
his marriage in Bath Co, I THINK getting land in Ohio, and the 1820 census ---
then the guardianship papers and his will probate. I am going to work on the
land records -- Now I think they may be listed as M and A Collison. I'll see

They were right between two McClure families -- William and Rachel and Samuel

another line.

Great Jane, I have no clue what is going on with AOL and my email -- no
explanation expected because I wouldn't understand it anyway.
For those of you who might have an ELLIOTT connection with your Callison line
-- Ann ARMSTRONG ELLIOTT was the mother of Thomas Elliott who married Martha
Callison and William Elliott who married Isabel Morris (d/o Jane Callison
Morris).
Archibald was her father.
Jane is very active in DAR and been working long and hard on her
Callison/McClure/Armstrong/ Elliott lines-- she is making great progress and willing to
help those working on those lines with documentation etc.
I have thinking of the GILLESPIE surname and wondered if possibly Isabel was
a GILLESPIE since so many lines used that name as a middle name. However, in
looking at it closer, it seems like only the lines who migrated through
Greenbrier/Bath and west from there, used that name so possibly more likely connected
to William and John rather than to Isabel.
The question has been discussed before about the possibility that Agnes, wife
of William, was a daughter of Joseph Beard. Does anyone know if Joseph had a
daughter, Agnes? Seems like that was a fact and now I make note that Joseph
Beard was a witness to the will of James Callison. William was definitely the
only one who seemed to use Joseph for a son's name. Just something to work on
-- in everyone's spare time <smile> Take care all.
Marilyn
Marilyn,
I sent you an e-mail and it was returned to me. I just wanted you to know
that Arch Armstrong supplement has been approved for me. So if anyone needs that
information please e-mail me.
Thanks.

Hi all, Chuck -- nice to see you on the list and to have a representative
from our thrice married James --- wouldn't you think with all the sons that he
had, that we could find ONE direct male line for DNA testing to confirm the fact
that yes, he and the older James were related in some manner or NO, they only
shared a last name.
We have a new member -- Terry -- whose wife descends from Alexander. We are
working together to try to get a family file on Alexander so that Mark can get
his folder on our master page --
Then we have Hiram, William who married Chapman, Isaac who married Robinson,
Elizabeth who married Morrison, Nancy who married Boiler, Nancy who married
Newenham, Daniel Kellison or Callison, William J, John who married Cutlip,
brothers Samuel and James, Isaac with the daughter, Millicent and of course,
UPDATES on ALL of our posted lines.
Anyone had any success of our DNA testing. We are STILL waiting on the
upgrades for John Jr line and Moses line.
Did everyone get the notes on James -- of James and Isabel with his land
records etc. Just let me know if you did not. I figured that was a good starting
place.
Take care all, Marilyn
Just putting all of our questions into print for later research. Does anyone
have ANY info on the Isaac Callison who had a daughter Millicent and was found
in Orange Co., VA. He was born about 1732 and she was born about 1758 and
died in Gilles Co., VA. Is he a brother/nephew possibly to our James Callison who
married Isabella. Do we know that he actually only had one child. How do we
know that???
Augusta County VA was taken out of Orange Co 1738-1745 time period. James
Callison is found in Augusta Co in 1740 something
Callison/Callison connection.
Millicent Callison married Daniel Shumate. This couple was in Greenbrier Co.,
VA in 1786 when their son, John Shumate was born
At least one of Millicent Callison Shumates children was married by the same
minister who married John and Jane McClure Callison in 1789
Greenbrier Marriage Records
Book 1A, page 136, 1798.
Tolison Shewmaker and Elizabeth Burdette were united in marriage by John
Alderson on 02 Jan 1798, in Greenbrier Co., VA
John Shumate married Rachel Gibson in Greenbrier in 1814 and had a son named
Harrison who would be a grandson of Millicent Callison.
John Shumate was living in Greenbrier Co in 1820 but because of the
alphabetical listing, I can't tell who they were living near.
John Shumate is living in Jackson Co., OH in 1830 but again the census
records are alphabetical.
Harrison Shumate married Sabina Buckley 1836 Jackson Co., Ohio. Sabina was a
granddaughter of John and Jane McClure CALLISON who married 1789 Greenbrier
Co., VA
SOOOOOOOO Just a coincidence that two Callison lines from Virginia married
each other in Ohio or had the families remained in contact because of a
relationship.
Some people say that there is no such thing as COINCIDENCE. I think the
families had to have some type of relationship and would love to know how everyone
knows that there was only one child. Remember we have Daniel who shows up in
Augusta County, VA in 1787 or so -- One just never knows. TAke care all,
Marilyn
