I would love to see some action on the Callis list. I have Calais in my
line and it was sometimes spelled Callis. I understand that they "landed"
in Virginia. Would love to hear more. For example, I'm kin to John Dudley
Calais who was killed at Chancelorville (sp) during the Civil War. Anyone
out there have him in their tree? I'll look at my Family Tree in a little
while and send more info - it's the same info I sent when I joined the list!!!
Thanks,
Fran Johnston

Deborah,
I didn't even realize how inactive the Callis list had been (and another
part
of that line for me - the Carrothers list) until I started to send the
New
Year msg. and had to stop and think how to address it! I'm also on a Martin
list, and it is very busy!
I didn't have the Callis name, my Grandmother was a Callis, married a
Carrothers in MO. And by the way, my Mother's middle name was Mae, spelled
the same! Hmmm.....
I'm sending this to the Callis list, too - maybe we'll get some action going.
