Mary Ann Calico b1-21-1867d. 10-2-1954, dau of James Monroe Calico Sr and
Lydia Ann Smith has letters published in the
above mentioned book with a notation as provided to us by BILL HULL. I
would like to know how to obtain a copy of this book or the rest of the
excerpts. It is noted that her daughteeer, Nettie Blake Ferree, had in her
possession a large packet of these letters. I remember Aunt Sissie as we
called her, she was my ggrandmother's sister, but do not remember Nettie.
Does anyone know what happened to all thse letters as Nettie never married.
A couple of corrections: some information place Aunt Sissie as being buried
in Mars Hill Ceme near Macomb, AR..it is located in MACOMB OKLAHOMA. I know
this for a fact as I tour the cemetery every two years when I go home.
Also, ARIE ELIZABETH CALICO, Aunt Sissie's sister and my ggrandmother, had
a daughter RUTHIE LEE BURDEN who married WILLIE PORTER. In the listing of
their children in every document I have found there is a son named LIONEL
listed.
This totally incorrect. There never was a son named Lional. They are
speaking of my father, CHARLES DEWARD PORTER, the first born of their 6
children.
