I believe my great grandmother was Mary Jane Callicott... and she married
Andrew Washington Barr in northern Mississippi about 1840... the spelling of
her name has been the source of many family discussions... but I stick with the
spelling of Callicott... as that is what was written in my grandmothers
Bible.... other spellings are Callicutt and Callilcoat.... As to your interest
in the Native American ancestry... It is a family story handed down that Mary
Jane Callicott was a Native American... I have a photo of her husband and
grown children and some of them definitely look Native American... but your Mary
is from Va and Ohio.... so must not be the same one..... If you ever happen
to find any information on my Mary Jane, I would appreciate if you would
forward it to me.....

I am looking for a direct female to female descendant of Mary
Callicott/Callicoat (c1790 - 1874), born VA/NC, died Lawrence Co.,
Ohio, married (1808, Franklin Co., VA) to McCager Dillon (1786-1859),
for a DNA test to establish the likelihood of Native American ancestry
associated with Mary Callicoat and any of her directly connected female to
female descendants.
I would be willing to sponsor this lady descendant for this test through
Family Tree DNA at:
http://www.familytreedna.com/.
