I am new to the list.
I am researching Ann Callaway. Her father may be Joseph. She had a
brother Thomas
at least. She married James Stodghill/Sturgell/Sturgill.
He was born in 1725 and died 1803 so she would be the same time period.
They were from Essex Co. Va. and died in Alleghany county, NC. This
James is the one that changed the spelling to Sturgill. 1765 they moved
to Grayson county Va and 1782 received the current Alleghany Co, NC
land grant (was Montgomery Co, Va.) They had 8 kids: Francis, Ambrose,
Mary, Ruth, james, John, Docia, lewis.
If you are
researching this line or related, I would love to
exchange info.
