I am researching Oliver P. Calloway/Callaway, a Civil Engineer who lived in
San Diego in the 19th century and who was killed by a Chemehuevi Indian in
the Palo Verde Valley (along the lower Colorado River near Blythe,
California)on March 28, 1880. I know a good bit about his murder by "Big
Bill" and a bit about his professional career -- building a "turnpike" from
San Diego to Fort Yuma, for example -- but nothing about him personally.
According to the San Diego Union he had a son born November 18, 1870, but
the newspaper did not give the wife or the son's name. If anyone can put
me in touch with one of his descendants I would be most grateful. Thank
you.
