CLAIBORNE COUNTY, TENNESSEE > WRIGHT COUNTY MISSOURI.
Surnames: CAMPBELL, CALLERWAY, or CALLOWAY, JONES, HELSLEY, QUILLEN NICHOLS, ROWLAND,
BRAY, CHADWELL, SEALS, and CLEGHORN.
I am trying to discover information about my CAMPBELL, CALLOWAY, and JONES families
heritage, but because so very little is known about the CALLOWAY and JONES lines the
family history may be hard to understand. I am sure you will agree with me as a fellow
genealogical researcher that a family heritage that is lost is truly a very sad thing. I
am hoping someone out there can help me with this classic dead end. I am searching for
information on: Charles CAMPBELL, his wife Dorcas CALLOWAY/CALLERWAY, (but it is possible
that her maiden name was JONES) their parents, and their children and families. The best
way I can envision to start this despaired search for information is to tell you what I
know and go from there.
There seems to be a problem with Dorcas CALLOWAY/CALLERWAY, JONES' records. One record
will list Charles CAMPBELL's wife Dorcas with the maiden name of JONES, while others
will list her maiden name as CALLOWAY. I am seeking information that will prove her name
either way. Charles CAMPBELL's wife Dorcas died in Wright County Missouri. Her probate
records indicates her name to be Dorcas CALLERWAY Campbell. I believe the correct spelling
to be CALLOWAY and believe this to be her maiden name. The papers list Dorcas
Campbell's heirs as: Alex Campbell, Elisa Campbell, Margaret Campbell, George
Campbell, Nancy Cleghorn, Manerva Cambell, Serelda Campbell, C.C. Campbell, Martha
Rowland. The following is listed as it was written. Heirs of Emily Bray (deceased) Heirs
of Betty campbell (deceased) Grandchildren who signed vouchers as having received a share
of Dorcas' estate. Are: S. P. Bray, Caroline Chadwell, Mrs. John Coday,Thomas P. Bray,
J. H. Campbell, Mrs. E. S. Coday. Source Cre!
dit, Wright County Historical Society.
Listed below is the information I have for this CAMPBELL family. Would you please appraise
this information and determine if there is any common links with your own family? I would
greatly appreciate any and all assistance.
