I'm looking for the parents of John H. Callaway who married Elizabeth G. Lewis,
January 9, 1836 in Christian County, Kentucky. In the 1850 census of Christian County,
John and Elizabeth are listed with their children Martha, William, Achilles, George,
Frances, and Amanda. They moved from Kentucky to (ironically) Christian County, Illinois.
Amanda married James J. Bowman and they had my great-great-grandfather, Albert Achilles
Bowman. In the 1850 Census, it lists John H. Callaway as being from Virginia. I have a
couple leads on who I think his parents are but I have no proof. Can anyone help? Here
is my "theory": There is an Achilles Callaway who married an Elizabeth Hudson
from Bedford County, Virginia. They had about 8 children and moved to Christian County,
Kentucky. Because "Achilles" is such an uncommon name and John named his child
the same, and they were from Virginia and moved to Chirstian County, I am thinking these
could be John's parents but I have no proof!
. Also, could the "H" in John's name be "Hudson?" Maybe I'm
stretching...HELP!
