Charles,
We worked on the records of Bertie Co, NC and Thomas and Catherine
Callaway. I believe that David, Hatton and Jonathan are definitely their
sons. David ended up in Sumner Co, TN - then the family moved to other
parts. Hatton moved to Leon Co, FL, then back to Henry Co, GA where he
died. From top of head, I am not sure about what happened to Jonathan. The
Elijah of Craven Co, NC is not from the Bertie County family - he came down
from Sussex Co, DE. We have not been able to determine the origins of
Thomas and Catherine of Bertie. I seem to remember that Catherine was a
Williams, but don't hang your hat on that yet.
I have printed off your note and will check our research notes....but
please give me a week. I have many commitments for next week.

Attempting to identify and assemble the family of Thomas and Catherine
Callaway of Bertie Co., NC in the 1770-1820 time period. Searching
surrounding counties I find Joshua, David and Hatton in Bertie Co. Jonathan
is in Martin Co, Elijah is in Craven CO. John marries in Bertie Co. and buys
land in Halifax Co. in the 1810-20s. Sarah marries in Bertie Co. in the
late 1890's. Could these all be sons and daughter of Thomas?
