Message Board Post:
I have a census of 1810 with Solomon Baker in NC not listing any other persons, as he was
the only white male.
I am a direct descendant of the daughter of Morning Dove Calloway and Solomon Baker. I
can't find record of either Mourning Dove or Solomon's death which was said to be
in Harlan, Bell, KY. Their daughter was Joanna Baker. There is a lot of info on her, but
not so much on her parents.
Some think's Dove's dad was named Calloway and that he married Red Wing, her mom.
Some think that Calloway was just a name that was stuck on the marriage certificate. I
don't know either way on that.
I don't know if they had to head for the hills because they were Native Americans or
what was going on. But, I would like to know more. Thanks!
