RE: Col. John Holder's Station
The following is the Revolutionary War pension statement of Frances F. Jackson, the
pension statement clearly states that Milly was living at the home of Col. John Holder
before her marriage to Edward Hall.:
"Affidavit of Frances F. Jackson 9-25-1843, states that she is acquainted with Milly
Hall, that she knows when Milly married; that she was living in the house of Col. Holder
in the year of 1783 or 1789 and was married the year that we moved into the house. I know
it was one of the above named years. I am certain it was before 1794. I have been
acquainted with her since her marriage and she resides part of the time with her daughter
in Clark County and the balance of her time in Estill County."
Milly Hall's Revolutionary War pension statement:
"Clark Co., Ky. June 28, 1843, personally appeared Milly Hall, widow of said Edward
Hall, age 75 years on the 16th Oct. 1843. She states he was from Va. She does not know
the county. She states she was married to Edward Hall June 9, 1786 in Fayette, County
Ky.; that her husband, the aforsaid Edward Hall died on the 13th July 1838 in Estill
County, Ky.; that she was not married to him prior to his leaving the services, but that
she has had 9 children. The oldest living is 52; that her oldest child is dead and that
she was married 17 months when her first child was born. Garret Hall, her oldest, is
living in Indiana. She was married by Parson Andrew Tribble and that the office burned
where the license were issued when they married (Fayette Co.)"
From Edward Hall and his Descendants:
"Milly was living at
the home of Col. John Holder at John Holder's Station in Clark County, Kentucky.
After their marriage, Edward and Milly lived at Fort Boonesborough in Madison County,
Kentucky. Later the Hall's lived north of the Kentucky River in Clark and Estill
counties. It is not known what the relationship of Milly was to John Holder or to his
wife Frances Callaway Holder, daughter of Col. Richard Callaway.
The early stations in Kentucky were small compared to the forts. The only exception is
Bryan Station which was the size of a fort. The stations were one or more cabins and
those that lived there were usually families related by marriage, blood, or friendship.
Milly (unknown) Hall was from Virginia. John Holder was from Virginia and married to
Francis "Fanny" Callaway who was the daughter of Col. Richard Callaway. Edward
Hall served under John Holder.
From Milly Hall's pension statement in 1843, she was born in
Virginia and age 75. Milly Hall died in 1858 at age 97 which would be born in 1761. The
age of Milly Callaway, daughter of Col. Richard Callaway is given as born in 1759. Col.
Richard Callaway was killed by Indians, so it seems very possible that Milly was living
with her sister Fanny?"

The deposition of Aquilla White - came to Kentucky and settled at Boonesborough April
1779. About 130 people, old and young lived at McGee's Station in 1780. About 30
families lived at Boonesborough, nearly as many at Strode's and about 20 families at
Boone's Station, eight families at Holder's. (Holder's = John Holder's
Station)
