James C. Callaway b 1815-1825 DE, [m 11 May 1843 in OH, Mary Jane TEDROW b abt 1822 OH, d
16 Oct 1886 (prob) Meigs Co., OH.] James d 3 Jun 1899 (prob) Meigs Co., OH.
1850 census Carthage Twp., Athens Co., OH living next to the James C. Calaway of is who
appear to be James parents and siblings:
Nathan 73 farmer b DE
Anna 50 b DE
Nicy/Eunice 28 b DE
John 24 b OH
James C. is shown on various censuses as born between 1815 and 1825 in DE. I assume from
this that Nathan and family, including James C. came to OH from DE between 1822 [birth of
Eunice] and 1826 [birth of John.] A search of the 1830 OH census shows:
1830 census Nathan "Caloway" at Carthage, Athens Co., OH as:
1010001/010001
males
under 5 - 1
5-10
10-14 - 1
15-19
20-20
30-39
40-49 - 1
females
under 5
5-9 - 1
10-14
15-19
20-29
30-39 - 1
My estimation as to the persons shown here would be: John under 5; James 10 to 14; Nathan
40-49 [b 1776 would be abt age 54]; Eunice 5-9; Anna 30-39.
Some sources show Nathan's wife Anna as Anna "Griffin" although I have not
established this. However, on this 1830 census, living next to Nathan and Anna is Lucy
Griffin, widow, which would warrant further research.

My estimation as to the persons shown here would be: John 10-14; James 20-29, Nathan 50-59
[b 1776 would make him age 64], Eunice 20-29, Anna 40-49. And, living next door is
"Major GRIFFETH" which would warrant further research.
On the 1850, 1860 and 1880 census at Carthage, Athens Co., OH appears Louden Calaway b 3
mar 1789 DE [and spouse Abigail WARNE a daughter of Thomas and Ann/Nancy (Purcell) WARNE
of Guernsey Co., OH,] who probably is related to Nathan Calaway of DE and Athens Co., OH.
One Internet source indicates our Nathan CALLAWAY b DE, died Apr 1860 at Athens Co., OH
(unsourced), however, his children Nicy/Eunice and John appear on the 25 Jul 1860 census
at Carthage, Athens Co., OH in the home of "Amsa Calaway," age 80, b (abt 1780)
DE. This appears to be, but may not be Nathan. Note that the Louden above appears on this
same page.
On the 1850 census at Carthage, Athens Co., OH appears Isaiah Griffin, age 72 b DE who may
be father of Anna, spouse of Nathan Calaway.
