I'd like to trace my ancestry further back than my g-g-grandfather
Cornelius Callanan of County Tipperary, born in 1820. He married
Mary Quinn (born in Ireland 1819) in 1847. Their eldest daughter
Johanna was born in Ireland about 1849. They emigrated to Quebec
in 1849 and shortly therafter moved to Keeseville, New York.
Cornelius was a stone mason and he and his father, a farmer, owned
land in Ireland.
I believe that Mary's family emigrated with them as a family of Quinns
show up in the 1860 US census next door to the Callanans. Michael
Quinn, a tinsmith, is listed in that household and later shows up in the
Callanan household. According to his obituary, Michael Joseph, son
of Cornelius, learned tinsmithing from his uncle Michael .
A writeup on Cornelius from "Genealogical and Family History of
Northern New York" by William Richard Cutter is posted at:

Any Information or references would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Michael McDonald
