Message Board Post:
My original posting has been moved to the "Callan DNA testing project" message
board.
If anybody missed it, please go there to read it. Basically, I am asking if anybody is
interested in starting a Y-DNA testing project for the Callan/Callen/Callens lines. All
spelling variations would be combined into one group, that would benefit in a couple of
ways, first, it would allow group rates for the price of testing, second, we'd have
all variations together so test results could be compared and we'd see who was kin to
whom.
The way Y-DNA testing works is that the DNA of the Y chromosome is passed from father to
son(s) virtually unchanged for eons, so when two or more living males of the same or
similar surname match DNA "marker" numbers, it is proof positive they descended
from a common ancestor.
There are alot more benefits from Y-DNA testing, click onto this URL & learn more

Only problem is that "only" living males born with Callan/Callen/Callens
surnames could be used, females could have their mtDNA tested, but the results only tells
them the ancient ethnic origin of their mother's line, no help in Surname genealogy.
So anybody interested needs to find a living male in their lines, whichever spelling
variation of Callan Callen Callens or others, doesn't matter.
We have two participants, need four more to get the cheaper group rates before we can
start the project.
Anybody interested, let me know.
