the following website is better than what I gave you before, because it
shows Patt Callan and Mary O'Connor of Hainstown and Dunmahon, Co. Louth
[They went to ST. FURCEY'S) in HAGGARDSTOWN, Co. Louth ] as parents of
Hugh Callan

Just received your posting "I have only recently seen your message
regarding the Callans' from Ardee. My GGMother was a Callan from Ardee,
though I know little of any of the family history though I too have
relatives there.
My mother's maiden name was Callan and her mother was born c.1905-10 we
think, her name was Kathleen. I met , only once my Great aunt Julia who
married John Lynch and they farmed in the Ardee area (Stabannon in
fact). Both of them have now passed away, though there children still
run the farm.
If you have any information regarding the family I would be pleased to
hear from you.
Regards
Kevin Smith."
We were in Ardee and the Archdiocese in Armagh looking for my wife's
Callan ancestors and Mary McGuire's ancestors, Hugh Callan and Elizabeth
McGregor [McGrooder, McGroder, McGruder, McGrowther]. To view the
pedigree ofHugh CALLAN, I draw your attention to a part of Thomas Rue's
website data at
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~tomrue/html/p9.htm#P812 . From
Lambertville, NJ records, Callans, O'Neils, Lynches, Rogans, and others
came from Ireland. The Lynches were close to the Callans - 6/18/1876,
John J. Callan & Julia Casey were married with James Lynch and Anne
Fagan as sponsors. 4/13/1858, Philip Reily and Bridget O'Neil were
married with Patricia Malone and Margaret Lynch as sponsors. 6/19/1857
Elizabeth Lynch was baptized with William Lynch and Helen O'Neil as
parents. PatrickLynch was the police chief of Lambertville. The Callans
and the Lynches Bethlehem, PA descendants of those in Lambertville, were
always close throughout the early and late 1900s.
