It's great to know when you actually have something right with this hobby:)
And I find that sometimes, throwing a little spaghetti at he wall works wonders. I recently located a 1918 account of he wedding of one of my dad's aunts - my Grandma's sister Anna. There is a list of attendees - most names don't ring any bells but there are several "Flynn" and "Callan" references mixed in - perhaps among them will be a name you recognize:
Mrs. Catherine Cooney of brooklyn
Mrs. James Flynn of Elmhurst
Mrs. Francis McNally
Miss Virginia McNally
Mrs. James J. Flynn
Mrs. Edward Cunningham of Brooklyn
Mrs. George Weimer of Brooklyn
Mrs. Owen Flynn
Mrs. Elizabeth Flynn of New York
Mrs. Margaret Dinnen of New York
Peter Callan of New York
Miss Helen Callan
Mrs. George Rasch
Mrs. Margaret Engler
Miss Ann Engler
Miss Etta Engler
Mrs. James O'Brien
Mrs. Muoi and her daughters Minnie and Lillian of Corona
Other surnames are McCabe, Hussenetter, Corkery, Storey, Lamat, Moran, Dolan, Claflane, Barnes, Mandin, Kugglemann, Kennedy, Slattery, "Private L.G. Green, 21st Infantry," Colohan, Roche, Murphy.
Anything ring familiar?

According to Ann's obituary in the Daily Star (I think it was January 7, 1918, the Monday following her death), she had four living children at that time - a son, Thomas, and three daughters - Elizabeth, Anna (married name Cunningham) and Lena (married name McDowell).
The names match up with some on a 1880 Census from Conemaugh, Cambria, PA while the number of children matches with the information on the 1910 census about Ann's children (8 with 5 still alive, if memory serves).

Hello again, I see that I posted all that I knew in a note in 2005 - the only thing I can add to that material is to tell you that my Andrew Cooley is the son of John A. Cooley and Margaret Farrell in case the Farrell surname means something to you and everyone on here searching Anna's origins.
There has to be something missing from our research because Anna purchased that grave for Andrew's burial - he was not without family to take care of him. His brother Michael took care of his remains when he passed.
We just have not hit the right angle as yet. Have you located Anna back earlier on the census? Could you guide me to those census returns where you might have found her so that I can look and see if anything hits me as a bright idea?
I'd be grateful if we could continue to chat and try and solve this - been a long time without success :-)
Another thought - do you have the marriage certificate for Elizabeth Callan to Michael Flynn? I wonder if it would also say that her mother's maiden name was Callan and that is what is on the death cert for Anna.
Take care, Donna

Hello! Your Anna Callan is most definitely my Anna Callan as Elizabeth Flynn is the informant on her death cert and I know Eliz was married to Michael. I will have to dig out her death cert and get back to you.
Anna is buried in Calvary in a grave she purchased. My interest lies in the fact that my great grand uncle Andrew Cooley is buried in that grave and was buried there in 1904. I'll dig out that interment list for you as well.
What we can't figure out is what the connection is to your Anna.
I will be most happy to share whatever I can and I appreciate your note - perhaps we can both make some headway on this.
Be back this afternoon! Donna

Hi Donna,
I'm not sure if you ever got the information you were looking for. I've been researching my father's family and my gg grandmother, Ann Callan (married name) lived with my great grandfather, Michael Flynn and his wife Elizabeth (Ann's daughter), along with my grandmother, Veronica and her siblings in Queens NY at the time of the 1901 census. I know Ann Callan died on January 4, 1918 at the Flynn home in Long Island City. According to the obituaries posted in the Daily Star on January 9 of that year, she was buried at Calvary Cemetery.
does this sound like your Ann Callan? If so, I would be interested in sharing what information I have for anything you may know. I don't know of any Cooley connection as yet, but I haven't determined her maiden name yet - and the obituary offered no help in that regard.
