Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
I don't think there's any connection. My Callan relatives arrived in SF in
the 1850's. Thanks for the inquiry. John

Subject: [CALLAN] ROLL CALL
Hello from Kansas (where it is HOT)
I'm not a Callan descendant, but am collecting tips for my sister and
brother-in-law who is a Callan. (My ulterior motive is to get them as
interested in genealogy as I am <grin>). Admittedly, the details below are
rather sketchy....
This Callan family was from Mitchell, South Dakota, where my
brother-in-law's grandfather worked for the U.S. Post Office. The
grandfather's name was Thomas Edward CALLAN, and he was born between 1882
and 1884 possibly in Granger, Dallas Co., Iowa; died 1955 in Mitchell. He
married Georgia L. PATTERSON 18 Nov. 1914. She was the daughter of
William Dingley PATTERSON and Mary Candice WEDDINGTON. Thomas' father was
possibly named John. He (Thomas) did have an uncle named Pat (Patrick) who
lived in Granger, Iowa where the 1880 census gives his age as 45 and his
birthplace as Ireland. Pat's wife's name was Mary KENNEDY, born abt 1842
in Ireland. Pat & Mary had 5 children: Mary, b. abt 1872 Iowa; Katie, b.
abt 1873 Iowa; Maggie, b. abt 1875 Iowa; Agnes, b. abt 1879 Iowa; and Peter
V. (born after 1880).
Anything familiar?

(Here is the break in the chain from the main Callen family as Charles
Callen dies 1850, leaving Hannah a widow. She remarries a George Parry,
whose wife died in 1844 - (as she was not only raising Absalom, who was
one year old at the time, but also Charles' three children from his
previous marriage, I think she was forced into finding a husband) but
suddenly leaves him circa 1856 due to his cruelty. She leaves for the
US. Still searching for ship's manifests but I have records on the way
for their naturalization in Trumbull County, OH.)

4 Charles Henry Parry *** This is my Great Grandfather Charlie
4 Richard Miller Parry
4 Absalom Parry
I'm looking for where the Brothers CALLEN (John and Isaac) originated.
I'm next trying the St. Issell's portion of Pembrokeshire as the woman
John married, Priscilla, was born in Pembrokeshire and there was an Iron
Works in Saundersfoot that shut down in the early 1800's, about the time
the CALLENs moved to the Beaufort, Llangattock parish, Breconshire County
area of Wales. Unfortunately, by the time the census officials started
asking people their birthplace (1851 census) Isaac, John, Charles and
James (all those born "out of County" in the 1841 census) are now
deceased.
I am still searching for CALLEN descendants in Wales, PA, OH, MO, IL and
in between!!! If you think you might have information that fits in,
please write. I'm happy to answer all queries.
Sincerely,
Dawn Perry-Taft e-mail: slo_taft(a)juno.com

We have gotten 4 new subscribers to the Callan mailing list in the past
little while, I thought it might be helpful to have a roll call (that means
everyone on the list sends in an email with their Callan genealogy, names of
direct Callans and birthdates and birthplaces will be adequate info) Please
put ROLL CALL in the subject line.
Thanks!

Hello ZL
Check my personal family Callan web site, www.falgen.org/callan to see if
the names of the children are there. IF they are. But I don't think
Bridget married at St. Patrick's in Dundalk, Co. Louth, IRE
Check the Irish Genealogical Project website for County Louth,
www.rootsweb.com/~irllou. I'm the webmaster for that site. You'll find the
e-mail address for the County Louth Library. they have a data base with
information about Baptisms and weddings in the 19th century. The records
are not complete, also check on the Ireland Gen Progect site for the listing
of Catholic churches, and the years the records that are available.
Hopefully, you'll be able to find some information thru the Louth County
Public Library.
Good Luck,
