Jeanne,
From south Mississippi where a typical july day is 92deg and 92%.
My Timothy Callaghan was born between 1844 and 1846. His father Patrick
Callaghan was born in Ireland as was his mother Kate Hawks. Regret the
first record of him I have is his marriage certificate, therefore do not
know his brothers and sisters. Am sure you are aware the odds are that he
had several.
He was married to Catherine Donoughue on 1 March 1870 in the Roman Catholic
chapel of Ballyco_____, Kilnamartyra, in the Registrar's District of
Inchigeelagh, in the Union of Macroom, County Cork. Neither could write.
Witnesses were Daniel Callaghan (could not write) and Daniel O'Callaghan
M.C.C.
They emigrated to Massachusetts in 1880 with four or five children and had
three more.

At some time I was looking for a Timothy Callaghan with a middle initial of
F. Regret unable to determine why I was doing that. His middle initial does
not appear on his marriage certificate.
Thanks so much for your fast response. Wish I had more information on his
siblings. Please let me know if you would like anything further. Suspect I
do not have much from the old country but always willing to go into my
paper files. Suspect you know that Timothy was a fairly common name among
the Callaghans. I must of gone through five or more death certificates and
countless hours before I found his in Boston. Of course trying to find an
Irishman in Boston after the destroyed 1890 census and prior to the 1900
census is always a challenge.
LOL to you also.

Chuck,
I am very interested in knowing a little more of the lineage. My
Grandfather, Timothy F. Callahan father and mother were Timothy and
Catherine, or Kate. This part is a bit fuzzy. If this connection holds to be
a connection, the clarification would be a viable break through for my
researching of my Callahan family line. However, my grandfather lived in
Philadelphia, and I do know his parents were from Ireland. But hey, we all
started there somehow.
By the way, I am thrilled at the supportive responses about the
"abuse" issue. This brazen attack on "doing it wrong," amazed me. I
was
starting to just say the heck with this. But, as I see I wasn't alone in the
fact that this wasn't an abuse of the list, then the heck with him.
LOL..Thanks.

Happy hunting.
