Sorry Karen. Haven't seen anything in my background that would suggest your
variation of the surname spelling. Doesn't mean that it aint so. My father recorded
that the family settled in Ashland Maine, circa 1832, but there is zero record of
that. Tom

My branch goes by the name of Cahalane. They originally came from
Rath,
Baltimore, County Cork & Heir Island, Skibbereen, County Cork. Those who
emigrated to the States tended to settle in Boston, MA or in the Englewood, NJ
area. When some married, they moved to Skeams or to Sherkin Island.
There is a branch of Cahalanes who came from the Maultrahane area of
Skibbereen, however, I have not been able to make a connection with this crowd
yet.
These Cahalane families were large. My g-g-grandparents, John Cahalane &
Norah Neill had 11 children.
Is there anything of interest? I'd be happy to share more detailed info.
Regards,
Karen
