I was the organizer of the reunion in Ireland in 1988 and has access to
many people that do O'Callaghan historical research. Joseph
O'Callaghan, Professor Emeritus, Fordham University, Renee O'Donovan
(O'Callaghan) research contributor to "The Othe
Clare", Monsignor Dennis O'Callaghan, Parish Priest, Mallow, County
Cork,
Donncha O'Corrain, Pofessor of History UCC, to name a few will all be
contributors in the future. I started the page as a continuation of the
failed newsletter that I started after the reunion. I would hope that
many
of us from around the world would have enough interest to become
involved in
some of the projects that are or will be presented. The idea is that we
would have contibutors from Ireland, Spain, England, Canada, Australia,
New
Zealand, and the US. They would keep us all informed of current
accomplishments, be a focal point for submission of literary work, etc.
I know this is ambitious, but I was told that the reunion had no chance
of
success. In fact we had over 300 O'Callaghans (all spellings) from 8
countries meet on the family estate in Mallow. Our chief and his family
from Spain attended. He was inaugurated as our Chief. It was great
fun.
