Hi Steve,
My Callaghan's were from a small town just outside of Cork, to the west called
Ovens. They seem to use the exact same names as yours! Cornelius seems to be
the patriarch, at least as far back as we can trace so far - he would have been
born approx. early to middle 1700's. There were many of his children and
grandchildren that emmigrated to a small town in Ontario Canada called Marysville
(on Lake Ontario).
Could there be a connection? Are the areas you mention near Ovens?
P.S.
There was also many Murphy's who immigrated to this town as well. I have church
records for Ovens but they only start in 1820.

just 2 months ago and have roamed the graveyards of each of these areas and
have photographed each of the Callaghan plots. Most graves are only marked by
small rocks surrounding a Callaghan monument. I intend to return next summer
