Hi, All. I thought it was worth a shot to post this here. I am a Haley
descendant and a letter was found that said George Haley's grandparents
were John Callahan and Elizabeth (this is the hard one because I have seen
this name listed many different ways)
Rishton/Riston/Ralston/Roiston/Royston. They were supposed to have 6
children David, George, Jack, Louvica (who married George Haley), Susan,
and Sarah (Cannefax in Greene County, MO). Supposedly John Callahan died
at the Battle of Tippecanoe in 1811 (although none of the Haley researchers
I have spoken to have found anything on that except in the letter).
Elizabeth was supposed to have been on the Trail of Tears, but never
finished the trip. Her "tribe" was supposed to have been in Alabama. I
have found nothing listing these people yet except for the letter.
"Cherokee By Blood" has some of these Haleys trying to get on the Rolls,
but they were denied. It states that two of her sons-John and Dave
Callahan-went to IT and took up land there and died there. I haven't found
them yet either. Elizabeth supposedly died in IL in 1855-we are checking
this if we can get someone to go to the graveyard. That is about all I
have-has anyone out there heard of these people?
Thanks,
Cyndi
