Hi everyone,
I wanted to make sure that people knew about this:
In the March/April 2001 issue of DAV magazine (volume 43, issue2, p 24) there
is a short article announcing that the French government will be issuing
"Thank You America" certificates to all veterans who served in France after
the Normandy invasion. This includes: those who participated in the actual
landing at Normandy, those who served on French territory and in territorial
waters and airspace between June 6, 1944 and May 8, 1945.
The article states: "Application forms may be obtained from any DAV National
Service Office. A copy of a military record showing proof of service in
France between June 6, 1944 and May 8, 1945, should be attached to the
completed form, which can be submitted to the DAV National Service Office.
Applications will not be returned, so only copies of military records should
be included."
"The certificates will be issued by the 10 Counsels General of France in the
United States on behalf of the French people."
**NOTE: This certificate will NOT be issued posthumously****
If you'd like more information, go to the DAV website at:

Or the French Embassy website at:

Take care,
Tracy
