Hi List,
Just responding to Jim Callahan's message :-)
Jim, would you know if any of your line emigrated to Newfoundland? I'm not
yet certain where my CALLAHANs originated in Ireland, but Co Sligo is an option.
I have a Cornelius CALLAHAN/CALLAGHN born @1785, who was in Nfld by at least
1822. He and his wife (unknown) had the following children: Ellen b 1820,
Priscilla b 1822 in Nfld, Robert b 1825, James b 1827, Cornelius b 1830, Richard b
1835 and Mary Polly b 1840.
'Cornelius CALLAHAN' is a fairly common name (in Ireland), I think... but I
thought I'd try anyway ;-)
Regards,
Susan in Ontario
Anyone out there searching or with knowledge of the Callaghan's
that came
from the Gurteen (Moydoo, Mweelroe,Mullagroe, Greyfield) area of county
Sligo.
Some of the names were Andrew, Matthew, Martin, John, Peter, James,
Michael >
and Corneilus. The time period for these names would have been back in
the
mid
1800's.
