PROVINCETOWN- Rachel Callahan, 82, a resident of Provincetown and formerly
of Cold Spring(s), NY, died Tuesday at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis after
an illness.
Born and raised in Provincetown, she graduated from Provincetown High
School. She earned a bachelor's degree at Framingham State Teachers College
in 1940 and a master's degree in education from Columbia University in 1943.
Miss Callahan taught high school home economics in Cold Spring(s), NY
for more than thirty years.
She enjoyed spending time on the Cape and returned to her family home in
Provincetown every summer. Upon retirement, she moved back to Provincetown.
She was an avid reader and also enjoyed world travel, visiting countries
in Europe and Asia.
She is survived by a cousin, Harriet Whittaker of Oregon.
A funeral service will be held at 2 pm Monday at st. Mary of the Harbor
Episcopal Church, 517 Commercial Street, Provincetown. Burial is in
Provincetown Cemetary.
Memorial donations may be made to Provincetown Rescue Squad Inc, PO Box
109, Provincetown MA 02657
