Gershom may be a son of Joel Callahan, Rev War pensioner. His widow and their children
were heirs of Joel Callahan, according to Joel's probate
When Gershon.Gersham bought land in 1805 Greenville Co SC, John Callahan and Joel Callahan
were witnesses.
Will of Gersham Calihan
In the name of God, Amen. I Gersham Calihan of the district of Greenville State of South
Carolina being low in health but of a sound disposing memory and understanding praised be
God for the same and calling to mind that I must shortly die do make this my last will and
testament. Recommending my soul to God and my boddy to the dust to be decentally buried
at the discretion of my friends and executors and as for my worldly living I desire the
same should be distributed in the following manner viz. 1st. I will to my beloved wife
and childen all of my estate to be equally divided with all of them at the time the
youngest child become of age if in case my wife Belveriddy Calihan remains a wider and
then she is to have a childs part if in case she marys the property is to equally divided
with my children and if the executor thinks there is any spare property of any kind he
should sell lease or hire out any such property as he thoughts most advantageous to my
wife and children. If in case one or moor should marry or arrive to the age of maturity
the executors can make a distribution of his part if necessary. I wish as much of
property keep togeather as will raise my children on the place where I now live. I do
hereby nominate and constitute and appoint my friend Jno. W. Hodges my sole executor of
this my last will and testament hereby revoaking and making void all and every other will
or wills at any other time heretofore by me made and declare this to be my last will &
testament. In witness whereof I the said Gersham Calihan hereunto set my hand and seal
this second day of June in the year of our Lord 1836.
