Hi Colleen
I don't have the specific info you are looking for but there was a guy by
the name of James (Sonny) Callaghan
that left Sligo Ireland back in the 1940's for Trenton, NJ. He married a
girl and had a child (Gerald-Jerry-Gerry). The mother died in childbirth
or shortly after birth. James had a sister that lived in the area and she
pretty much raised Gerald. The father (James) owned a bar supposedly near
one of the auto plants and some big government building.
Don't know why these Callaghan's decided to go to the Trenton area from
Sligo unless they had some family connection there. I am presently trying to
find Gerald. I spoke with him 5-6-7 years ago and he was living in
Hamilton. Supposedly he moved to Georgia (South) but I have not had any luck
finding him.
Good Luck in your search

I am researching the family of Jefferson Callahan born April 13, 1884 in
Ireland and died July 1930 in Trenton, NJ; married to a Anna McGuire (born
1851 died 1915); Jefferson's parents were: Owen Callahan and Mary Tobin.
Any and all information is appreciated - especially any insight into the
roots in Ireland as I am at a dead end.
Thanks so much.
Colleen
