To interject:
I am looking for an Eliza or Elizabeth Calahan from Ireland who married a
John Duross. Both Eliza and John would have been born around 1817.
They had my great grandmother Elizabeth Duross in about 1837. She married
John Raynond Lawton of Whitmore Lake in Michigan.

I'm afraid that at this point, all I have is the name. Will hold on to your

Ron,
Do you have any information about Elizabeth Callihan's parents or siblings?
In which year's census did you find her? Is the census on the web?
Hannah has been a brick wall for me, so am anxious for any suggestions.

I have one Callahan connection from the Forward Twp area,....Elizabeth
Callihan, bn abt 1810. Married to Job Pierce, bn abt 1800. This is census
information. I would venture to say we are connected quite possibly in some
way,...As I said, this is my only Callihan connection, so far. She is
however, a direct gr-gr-grandmother.

I am trying to locate information about Hannah CALLAHAN, wife of John Wesley
STEWART, mother of Mary Catherine STEWART (1861-1930) and Annie M. STEWART
(1866-1954) from Western Pennsylvania. Mary Catherine was born in Forward
Twp., Allegheny Twp., Pa. Both Mary Catherine and Annie are buried in
Belle Vernon, Westmoreland County, Pa.
Does this connect with anyone on the CALLAHAN list?
I am seeking information on JOHN O'CALLAGHAN and his wife MARY ?. They had a
son THOMAS O'CALLAGHAN who was born between 1875 and 1880. He later moved to
Chelsea, Massachusetts. I believe both John and Mary were born in Michigan.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Terri Callahan Kudrena
My Mother has done considerable "Callahan" research and has been trying
to determine if CORNELIUS Callahan is the father of my gggf. From the
following you can see that she has found some potential "ties", but
nothing to solidify her research. Her email ddress is:
jbelle1939(a)fiber-net.com
Hello I have searched for our Daniel Callahan (we think Cornelius
is either his father or brother), b. about 1818 in Virginia, according
to the 1840 Census in Morrow Co., Ohio. He was married to Mary Queen
in 1837 in Morrow Co. Ohio and had the following children:
1. Morilla b. 1839 married Dec.. 10 1857 to John J. Lee in Marion Co.
Oh.
2. Melvina b. 1842 married Dec 28 1875 (?) to Carl Lyons Morrow Co.
Oh.
3. Mary Jane b. 1844, died Dec. 1863 (her Mother died in Jam 1864
- so must have been something that was serious that year - Maybe
influenza ?)
4. Isaiah Wells Callahan b. Jul 19, 1846, Married Rachel Ann Reasoner
1866 Morrow Co. Ohio. She died 1902, Union Co. Oh. He died 1928
Union Co. Oh. (Note about Isaiah - the family lived in Scott Twp Marion
Ohio and there was a neighbor who was named Isaiah Wells - I am
wondering if there is some family connection - because evidently Isaiah
was named after this man who, according to the census lived pretty near
them) Can't prove this yet.....
5. Rebecca E. b/. 1850 Married Robert McCune 1873 Morrow Co. Oh.
6. Sanford b. 1860 married several times - 1st. to Catherine Dailey
1878 He died in Morrow Co. Home for the Aged in 1931, is buried in
Ashley Cemetery.....
OTHER INFO ON DANIEL)
Daniel and his wife bought land in about 1838 from a James Queen and
Isabella. I am wondering if this was Mary Queen's parents (can't prove
this yet). Daniel bought several parcels of land between 1837 and when
he died in about 1911. He bought land from Cornelius and Margaret
Callahan from Knox Co. Ohio and they retained the right to get firewood
f rom the land. I am wondering if Cornelius was Daniel's father - or
maybe a brother. I think he was quite a bit older than Daniel. Then
there was several other Callahan's in the area - and am wondering if
they are, somehow, all related. Daniel re-married after Mary died in
1864, to Hannah Baker Queen , the widow of Asa Queen, a prominent person
in that area. She had several children under age, and Daniel was made
their guardian soon after they were married. They were married for
about 35 years. I have her obituary - she died a widow in 1912 - in
Marion Co. Ohio. (No mention of when Daniel died). I can't find a
death certificate - or an obituary. I know he lived in Denmark, Ohio
and owned land there in the 1900 census.
I am writing to a person in S. Carolina who is also interested in the
Cornelius Callahan. Although she is mainly interested in John Callahan
who married a woman named Burt and lived near Daniel and his first
family also. So I figure they all must be related - but can't seem to
find anything back of when he was married in 1837.
Isaiah Callahan's (Fourth Child of Daniel) marriage certificate states
that his name was Isaiah "Cochran"(?)....the minister who married them
and filled out the bottom of the marriage certificate - made a mistake.
The LDS copied that certificate and it is in their files as Isaiah W.
Cochran.....or Cochrun.... (Lots of problems with getting all this
information straight.....)
What do you have on Cornelius Callahan? I am in touch with a family in
Casey Illinois, who think one of their ancestors - Cornelius came to
Ohio - and settled in either Lexington Ohio, or New Lexington Ohio.
Either way it is near the Knox Co. location where Daniel bought land
from Cornelius and Margaret. Cornelius died in about 1850. I have his
will - but it is so bad that it can't be read.
Hope we can get some of this straightened out some way. I have looked
for about 20 years for our Daniel... and know very little -
yet....HELP!!!!
Thanks for your time....will hope we can keep in touch.

Hi,
Many of them dropped the O in front of Callahan when they came over
here.
We have many similar names in our family trees. Did you have anyone
named
Cornelius or John? My great grandfather Timothy Frank Callahan had at
least two brothers named that. I have an old photo of three brothers
taken
in McKeesport, PA, and it is possible that they entered the country at
Philadelphis. I have not been able to figure this out yet from the
ships
lists. I also know that my great grandfather's brother Cornelius lived
and
worked in Cleveland for the railroad.
Any connections?

We may have something here. The bar both my father and uncle talked about
had a boxing glove hanging out front at one point. They couldn't remember
the name.
It was in South Philly.
Anything click??
I have quite a bit of info on these Callaghan's including 19 of them in the
family plot.
Pat
Yep, my great-grandfather had an affiliation with a bar in philly. I am from
Philadelphia as well. I only moved from there 10 years ago this fall.
Jeanne
The Charles, James, and Edward in my Callaghan clan are born around
1825-1840. Charles had a large family and Edward did also have some children
but I don't have all that info right here.
Charles's family was involved with a few bars here in Philadelphia. The
family kept them up until recently I think.
