I've traced O'Callaghan back to Philip in 1700-'s, but don't know a thing
about him.
I don't have my notes on the O'Callaghan's handy, at the moment, but what I do
know is that at some point the O was dropped, so name became Callaghan.
Surnames associated with my Callaghans's were, (would have been) Doherty, Dougherty,
Harkin/s, Bradley, McDaid, McDevitt, . Some of them came to MA, and settled in the
Woburn, Winchester (north of Boston about 10-miiles) area.
others remained in Ireland. There are many other surnames that are in my notes.
My connection goes back to the Bradley. He was Con Bradley and he married Mary Callaghan,
whose father I believe was Francis, as was his father. Con and Mary had at least one son
Neal(Neil). born in 1864 I think. Con was my great grandfathers brother. My
ggrandfather was bernard Bradley and he had married Mary or Margaret
McGeoghan(McGoggin?).
