Hi
I too have a Patrick Callaghan who appears to have left Ireland in 1847 and
settled at Northwich in Cheshire. His wife was Catherine Brennan.
Based on family "folklore" they probably came from the Castlebar Westport
area of Mayo.
At least three of the children went on to the US.
Luke B1842? to New York to stay with "uncle" Andrew Callaghan (201 West 18th
Street. This Luke had a son also Luke (who may have become a
lawyer?policeman? and possibly a daughter Josephine who may have become a
nun.
Another son Patrick John went to Boscobel (not sure which one)
Daughter Catherine (b1849) went across in 1864 but came back to England
after about 6 years.
Do these ring any bells with anyone?
Regards
Tony Barratt

Dear Martin,
If it is of any help I have found Patrick in the 1871 census,he is living
with his wife Margaret and son James in The street facing the railway ,
off Belle Green Lane, Ince (honest that was the address on the census)it
states he came from County Mayo ,Ireland, (thats where my lot come from)
If you need more census information let me know, his occupation was
working in an iron works.
Susan
