I'm not sure if this will help as the information you have presented seems a little
different. I have researched the Australian ancestery of a Michael Callaghan. Please note
the family has since reinstated the prefix O.
Michael Callaghan is my G.G. Grandfather.
On the 19th of August1849 a ship by the name of "Constance" departed from london
and Plymouth carrying Michael Callaghan (26 & single) it arrived in Adelaide, South
Australia on the 5th of November 1849 carrying 244 people,127 males and 117 Females, the
voyage lasted 77 days sailed by Captian G.B. Godfrey.
Note: Cath 20, Alice18, and James16 are listed together with Michael on the shiping list.
I have so far been unable to trace these families in Ireland.
Michael is also listed in the biographical index of South Australians as so: CALLAGHAN
Michael b c1823 MOG IRL arr:1849 CONSTANCE occ: Labourer.
Mog is short for County Monaghan situated in Northern Ireland.
