1879, Annual Report of the Inspections of Mines of the Anthracite Coal Regions of
Pennsylvania Library Call No. TN823.P4 A2, page 33
2nd District, March 13, 1879, Con Callahan, Schuykill colliery, occupation miner, killed
by fall of coal
This is all the information that I have on this accident.
Large university and public libraries, the Pennsylvania Geological Survey Library, or the
State Library of Pennsylvania may have the reference reports. The books are usually
under library Call No. TN805.04 A29. These reports also cover strikes, details of mining
operations at specific mines, location of the mines, pictures, production and operation
details for specific mines.
In the State of Pennsylvania, the reports locations are listed on the web site:
http://www.dep.state.pa.us/dep/deputate/minres/bmr/historicalminingreport...
but use the year of the report in place of the question marks.
The Schuylkll county clerk may have a probate record, or there could be a newspaper
article about the accident.
