John
You say you don't know if ur Dennis came from Ire or was born here in USA?
To have him be a possible ancestor he would have to have been born here.
If he were an issue from a son of my Dennis then the DOB you mention would track within
the realm of possibility.
I mentioned earlier about getting a 'Y' Chromosone DNA test run and on record.
Without any paper trail and no living relatives to pass the info, DNA is really the only
way to tie into earlier generations.
The Alleles match is a good way to find lost family.
I had the initial 12 Alleles test run (only size they offered initially) and match with
several hundred individuals but none have the surname Callahan (or varient).
If you get involved in the DNA testing you will find they can test up to 67 +/- Alleles
now (of course at a highar price).
My feeling is that the 12 Alleles test is a sufficient initial test and if you find a
Callahan surname with it then you are almost 100% sure he is family. If you then want to
test a larger span of Alleles it may give you more of a warm feeling?????
If you don't know any male descendents that do not fall male to male to male, etc they
will not have the Callahan DNA sequence so male descendents of any Aunts will not match.
Hope I have not confused you.
