This is part of the information I have about my Callaghan family. I
also have a scanned copy of a letter from the US Customs Service to the
Commissioner of Pensions giving a transcript of the Callaghan family's
arrival in New York, 25 May 1853. Patrick was listed as 8 years old at that

John, Catherine and Patrick were baptized in the RCC in the Townland of
Leitrim, Parish of Tehallan, Co. Monaghan. I have a transcript of these
baptisms. Bernard was my ggrandfather. All except Charles arrives in New
York,
USA on 25 May 1853.
There is a Charles, age 40, who arrived 1Mar 1850 in New York, perhaps to
scout out conditions or find work. I have no information on any of the
others except
Thomas who served in the US Navy with his brother, Bernard, during the
Civil War.
I have not searched the Tithe Applotment Books or the Griffiths Primary
Valuation

My ggrandparents were Patrick and Mary (Quinn) Callaghan, also from
Monaghan. They had a son Charles, from Montana.
