RITES FOR D. O’C CALLAGHAN
Member of Bar and Old Resident of District to be buried tomorrow
Funeral services for Daniel O’C Callaghan, a member of the Bar Association, and a lifelong
resident of the District, will be held at St Mathew’s Catholic Church at 10 o’clock
tomorrow morning. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. The Rev Edward L Buckley is
to officiate.
Mr Callaghan was 70 years old. He died at his home, 616 Eighteenth street, after an
illness of more than a month. He was a graduate of Gonzaga College and later attended
Georgetown University law school, from which he was graduated. He was admitted to the bar
December 10, 1872. He always took a deep interest in affairs of the District, and was a
member of the Oldest Inhabitants Association, Columbia Historical Society, and the West
End and Brightwood Citizen’s Association. Besides his wife, he is survived by a son Leo L
Callaghan, and three daughters, Mrs Lillian Wallace, Mrs Edith Brewer, of San Antonio,
Tex., and Miss Madeline Callaghan.
